2009-05-10 23:15:21 First published in 1978, this book is still a useful addition to my bookshelf. It begins with a simple explanation of heredity and examples of producing punnet squares to calculate the expected results from a mating. It goes on to cover several species of small livestock, inclucing cavies, hamsters and mice as well as rats. I found it interesting to read of the differences and simlarities in the mutations which have arisen in these species. The section on rats is quite small, lacking many of the modern colours discovered since the book was written, but I still found it very interesting. —AnnetteRand
