Bumblefoot is Ulcerative Pododermatitis - ulcerations and ulcerated lumps on a rat's foot. Partly due to a hereditary tendance, possibly linked to a tendency to diabetes, sometimes due to husbandry conditions such as standing urine in the cage. It was thought to be linked to the use of wire shelves, but this opinion has receded in recent years. Home treatments include 'Purple Spray' and haemorrhoid cream.
