A female rat is called a doe, in the same fashion as a female rabbit.
Doe rats tend to remain more active than bucks as they grow older, and usually have an adult weight of 300 to 500 grams. They have a tendency to develop benign mammary lumps as they age. Does are less likely to spot urine mark than bucks.
