Flank

The sides of the rat above the back legs, in the lower back area.

The sebacious glands on a rat's flanks produce Buck Grease in adult males. An over hormonal male may have wet patches on his flanks due to engaging in excessive scent rubbing. He will also scratch the area to spread the scent and possibly to stimulate further production.
