Free Feeding

This is the system where rats are fed as much as they will take, with the food being topped up or replaced before the previous meal has all been taken. The opposite of this is restricted feeding.

One drawback of this is that the rats may pick out the 'best' bits, leaving the less appetizing pieces behind and resulting in a less balanced diet. It can also lead to over-weight, particularly in older bucks.
