The Freddy 2 is a decent sized cage, big enough for up to four rats, with easy access via one large door which has a very secure but quiet catch. Mine is the old style which came with two wire shelves but I replaced one with a corner shelf to make access easier. I like it because it's not too tall so it is easy to lift down for cleaning. Another advantage is that it fits through the hatch into our loft, so I can stick it out of the way when we're not using it.
I've used the second wire shelf to make a lid in the top of the cage, which makes it easier to clean and easier to reach the ratties. —AnnetteRand
