Wiki How To Begin

Rattypaedia is a wiki, like Wikipedia, which anyone can edit and add to. The best way to begin is by having a good look round and seeing how things work. Clicking on the Rattypaedia logo at the top of the pages will take you back to the front page at any time. Underlined text that changes colour when you move your mouse over it is a link. Dotted underlined text is an invitation to make a page of that name.

If you see something that you can improve on, or think of something to add, then please do. To begin editing all you have to do is create an account and log in.

On the page you want to edit, click the 'Edit' icon up at the top left of the page you are viewing. The edit page which opens up is a little like a forum posting box, with formatting options up in the top right corner. The button that says "me" adds your username. A good place to try these out is in the sandbox, a page for trying things and learning on. You can see the result of your edits by clicking the Preview' button below the box.

In general, just looking at how existing pages do things (by clicking on Edit and looking at the "raw" content) should let you figure out the markup — which is very simple! (Always make sure you "Preview" before you "Save Changes", which saves a great deal of hassle and is less frustrating.) But don't forget to save your changes when you have things the way you want them!

If you want to make a minor change, just double-click a section of text to edit that section. Click "Edit", and a small Quick Edit box will magically appear in the middle of the text.
